VERTICAL STRIPES GALORE!: KNIT ONE BELOW VARIATIONS

Knitting in the Stitch below can produce a variety of effects, including creating stunning vertical stripes with a thick, soft, supple fabric while working with only one color per row or round. In this workshop, we will cover and practice the K1B technique to make vertical stripes with both flat knitting and knitting in the round. Experimentation with variegated colors and textured yarns can add further interest and pizzazz. Suitable cast-ons and bind-offs for this soft, expanded fabric with be covered, as well as tips for attractive edges and how to properly seam, how to increase and decrease while maintaining stripes, and how to accomplish some cable designs. Participants will practice these techniques in hat projects, a scarf, or simply swatches as homework in the week between sessions.
